Boricua Social Work

A signature initiative of The Ancestral Healing Collective

What is Boricua Work?
Boricua Social Work is a weaving of cultural memory, collective care, and liberation into the practice of social work for Puerto Rican communities on the island and across the diaspora. Rooted in ancestral knowledge and
intergenerational healing, this work honors the ways our people have always cared for one another. Through decolonial and trauma-informed approaches, the initiative supports Boricua social workers, healers, and community members in reclaiming connection, nurturing belonging, and remembering our collective wholeness within systems that have long sought to erase, marginalize, or de-center us.
Through intentional learning spaces, healing-centered engagement, and institutional collaboration, Boricua Social Work bridges ancestral wisdom and theoretical frameworks to cultivate leaders who honor identity, transform systems, and carry healing forward for future generations.
