What is a Death Doula?
An end-of-life doula, also known as a death doula, is a trained professional who provides holistic, non-medical support to individuals and their families as they navigate the end-of-life journey. Much like birth doulas support individuals through the birthing process, death doulas offer guidance, comfort, and companionship during the dying process and in the period leading up to death.
Without us being able to hold conversations about dying, we cannot plan, leaving our last moments to be defined by others and left out of our hands.
TaLisa Ramos-Watts, MSW, LSW, CCTP-I

Becoming a death doula is part of my soul medicine. As a death doula I walk beside individuals and families as they navigate this tender time to support them in their grief, honor the beauty of a life lived, and create moments of peace in the midst of change.
Rooted in ancestral wisdom and cultural responsiveness, I honor death as a sacred transition that deserves love, presence, and dignity. Through empathic guidance, storytelling, and gentle care, I help families create space for healing, reflection, and connection. I hold space for the living and the dying alike, helping them move through this journey with tenderness, reverence, and the knowing that no one walks this path alone.
